We feed Charlie, who is 4.5 months, 3/4 cup of food a day. We were feeding him that in 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) but he wasn't very hungry around lunch so we tried first cutting back to only 1/2 cup twice a day, but recently had to add a little more food. I think its a bit of trial and error to see what they respond to best, thats how it was for us anyway!
Btw both puppies are adorable!! The second one reminds me of Charlie when we first got him, the colouring is almost identical!

We feed Mai Tai twice a day now as an adult.  He gets 3/4 cup a day.  I give him about 1/4 in the morning, and 1/2 cup at night.  I do mix the dry with a little wet though, and with chicken that I cook.  Mo, a much smaller and pickier dog, gets fed several times a day so he does not get low blood sugar.  He ends up eating well though, only about once a day.  He is really not a big eater.  I really don't measure what I give him and am just happy when he will eat anything.

Gracie hates dog food so her first year has consisted of me trying to trick her into eating. I have always left food down at all times for puppies so they could eat as they wanted to. I just made sure I put down the amount that the brand said to for the weight/age of the pup. The better foods now require less food to be fed because they have less fillers and grain in them.

I feed Raley twice a day.  He eats 1 cup of kibble per day so I feed him 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup in the evening!

Tiko is a begger.  I make some of his own food, chicken, rice, carrots, orzo, broth, but lately he doesn't want his own hard food, which is kirkland from costco.  any suggestions?

Hmm..i wonder then if we are not feeding our pups enough.  We split 1/2 cup of kibble in the morning between them and then another 1/2 cup of kibble between them in the evenings.  They don't always finish it, so I guess they are probably getting enough.  They drink like fish though...LOL

Charlie drinks water like crazy too! I've never seen a dog chug like him lol
We feed Charlie Nutro Natural Choice. We switch between the Chicken & Oatmeal and Lamb & Rice kibble every month so that he can have a little variety. I read that just like humans dogs need some change, you probably wouldn't want to eat the same food everyday for your whole life. Anisenin, maybe after feeding him such yummy food he doesn't want the kibble now. I know if I were to be fed like a queen then tried to eat my old food I wouldn't want to go back either!  :D

I have gone to grain free food for Gracie. I also will not feed her anything with white potatoes in it. I have been doing a lot of research on dog food and have found that many brands are mainly grain with little actual meat in them. When my Shih Tzu was getting older I put him on Science Diet for mature dogs thinking it would help him. I looked at the ingredient list lately and cringed when I saw that the first ingredient was corn! I feel so bad for feeding cow food to my baby. These companies make food out of grain and unhealthy fillers then add some synthetic vitamins. No wonder cancer in pets is at an all time high! I will spend the money to feed Gracie healthy food but she is tiny. I don't know what I would do if I had a big dog. It could get really expensive.
Have you checked the ingredient list on your dogs food? It may have something in it that is making them thirsty.
There is a good website called dogfoodadvisor.com that can tell you quite a bit about what you are feeding your dog. I have found that some of the better breeders depend on it.

I feed Angel cooked chicken also. And I leave her dog food out all day which is Horizon Amicus puppy for small and mini breed dogs. She does better eating  when I leave it out. I know they say don't do this but it's best for her.

I have heard good things about that brand. Your dog likes it?
