I think it can replace brushing, but don't quote me on it! My boyfriend's parents use it with their maltese and I don't think they brush and they've never had any problems with bad breath/teeth that I know of. We still do brush Charlie's teeth, but we're not very consistent with it  Probably if we didn't use the seaweed I would be more adamant about it

We use a product called Dental Fresh.  I put it in the water bowl with their water.  So far no bad breath!
