Hello everyone..update!!

Brought the puppies home yesterday and we are having so much fun with them.  They are so loveable and playful.  Surprisingly they slept thru the whole night without any accidents.  We took them out this morning and they immediately did their business.  I was so proud!  LOL

They are bigger than expected, we weighed them and the girl is 3.5 pounds and the boy is an even 4.  WOW!!  I guess they will take more after the Shih Tzu than the Yorkie in size.  LOL

We gave them a bath, which they loved, they are so silky and furry now.  TOOOOOO ADORABLE!!  I will post pics as soon as I can.....it is very hard to get a clear picture of them since they are constantly moving...and when they sleep they bury their heads into each other so I can't get a face shot.  LOL

Sounds like you really have your hands full. I often wish I had purchased Gracie's sister when I bought her. I don't know if she would accept another dog now. Two puppies together just sounds like so much fun! If you have the time to spend with them anyway.

Hello, sorry I haven't been able to post any new pictures yet.  These puppies are a hand full..LOL  We have been so darn busy, I feel like I am spinning.  It is worth it though when I look down at them staring up at me wanting me to lift them.  They are so cute!

Working on training them, they love their crate, and they have been going from 11pm to 6:30 am every night without any accidents.  They know to go potty outside and they hardly have any accidents in the house, but it is partly alot of diligence on our part.  :-)

Working on trying to keep them from barking and chasing our cats, poor things are traumatized...any suggestion???

Diligence is what is needed. Sounds like you a doing a really good job. How old are they? Just getting them into the habit/routine of doing things the way you are is really important. I think puppies start developing bladder control at 16 to 18 weeks so just learning the routine is important up to then. Of course a little one does not have as large of a bladder so they have to be fast.
I have cats too and have all my life. I never had a dog that bothered a cat until I got Gracie. I guess it's the terrier in her. When she was little she started to develop a shall we say "outgoing" personality and would chase the cats. I had taken in a litter of stray kittens at the time and they were around the same age so they played together a lot. Sometimes she would get carried away and start to bite too hard so I would have to make her stop playing with them but she would be all super charged and hard to control. I found my best defense was a rolled up news paper and my voice. It was easier if I tried to stop things before she got too excited. If she would not listen to me when I would say no I would take the rolled up newspaper and bang it on my hand or a table. The loud noise would get her attention and let her know I was serious. I never crate trained her but I would think a time out place to calm down would have helped. Sounds like you are doing fine. I don't know how determined your two are but they have to be taught what the no no's early. Gracie is an A type personality. Always trying to get her way. She is very obedient now when she is with me but I find everyone has to let her know she is not in charge or she will forget her manners.

Thanks Ellie, the puppies will be 9 weeks this Wednesday.  That is exactly what we have been trying to do is just establish a routine.  They definitely are not potty trained yet as last night they were left out to play for a bit and we lost track of time and Max pooped and peed...so it does go to show that we still have to constantly watch them.  We learned too that we can't leave them free in the living room because it seems to get them SO HYPER!!!  I mean it is like watching a toddler on a chocolate high.  So it is better if we let them play outside or in their big playpen.  Too much room spells trouble for them!  Max tried to cop an attitude last night when we were trying to get his harness on to go out.  He wanted to run around like a mad man and not let us have our way so we layed him on the groun until he stopped struggling, then he let us put the harness on.  I can tell he wants to dominate us...but we have learned from our bigger dogs not to let that happen.

As for the cats, they still bark at them but I think we have cats that are chickens too so that doesn't help.  :D  I guess everything is trial and error right now.
