I agree that their being so small is a disadvantage at times. Little dogs do not usually know they are little. My Shih Tzu was 14 pounds and sturdy. He was on the small side but I never really worried about him more than any other dog that I had before. Gracie is a whole different thing. I have to worry about her getting out every time the door opens because she thinks she should be able to go out and run around. She is so fast! It's hard to believe those little legs can move that fast!
She is a picky eater and hates d-o-g food. I am still trying to find the right food for her. Right now I am making her food myself but I would prefer to find a brand she will eat willingly. She does not especially like my cooking either.

Angel is doing fine with her ears now but now I have another worry. She just got spayed today. Can't tell you how worried I was. She was so scared this morning. I picked her up later and she looks so sad and sore. I know alot of you went through this already. Some of you said in a day or two she'll start moving around again. Oh also she weighs 4pds and 2ounces now. She 17 weeks old. Also I finally found a puppy food she'll eat. It's Horizon Amicus Small and mini breed puppy foo.d Also she loves roast beef. I asked the woman at Pet 1st where I get her food if this was alright since they say no human food. She said this is good for her. Hope I can believe her. I sitting here typingand Angel is laying on my pillow on my lap. That's the only place she will lay. She's not spoiled.  Ha Ha

Have to admit I haven't gotten Gracie spayed yet but expect to have it done soon. I almost did it as soon as she turned 6 months but decided to wait because she was so small.
I was just reading about the Amicus small breed puppy food. It sounds good but I was not sure if she would like it. There are lots of good foods out there but if my dog will not eat it then it does neither of us any good.

Well I'm kinda late for this post re: ears, but I am glad all is better, phew...
Kiki's ears were standing up, but started floping over few weeks after i got her. Then even worse happened. One ear was down and nice but the other was pointing down but out to side, It look terrible. I was not sure if she would stay looking like little gremlin, but she outgrew them. Now they are perfect.

There is a dog I have seen at the groomers that is a Yorkie/Maltese. She is mostly black with a white muzzle and white feet. She has one ear that stands all the way up and one that is down. I have to say she is the cutest little thing. Those ears are hysterical. I would love to have her, she is just so sweet. Everyone always makes such a fuss over her. I think those ears just give her so much personality.

Thanks guys. You really made me feel better about Angels ear. I think its just acting normal now how Angel wants to put it up. I really like this site. I wouldn't know where else to go to ask these questions.

Hey I got to update. Angel's ear fell down again. She tried putting it up but it would't stay. One was up and one down for about a week. Now she put both down. I kind of hope they stay down. This is so weird though.

It is kind of strange. My Gracie has floppy ears but one is not down as far as the other one is. You don't notice it that much until she starts turning them when she is listening to something. She's so funny.
Are angel's ears both exactly the same now?

No the one that fell down is pretty flat. But she can put it up a little. The other ear has just a tiny lift to it but then is can go completely flat. I think it depends on what she wants to do. But the one ear I think is a little weak and then it goes down. Sometimes they are the same and sometimes not.

Yorkie owners that have trouble with their dogs ears standing up right will shave the hair off the tips of the ear to take the weight off the lower ear so it can get stronger. Some of them tape the ears, too. I kind of think that is cheating but I guess if you have spent over a thousand dollars for a Yorkie you want it to look like a Yorkie should.
Gracie's ears are up at the base for about an inch and a half and then flop down. If she is not trimmed and her ear fur is real long you can hardly notice.
