Christmas Picture
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:45:47 PM »
I was just wondering when is it ok to start getting my baby groomed?  She's 4 months old and this being her first Christmas, I was gonna go get her groomed (if possible) and have her picture taken with Santa at the local Petco.  Regardless of grooming, I'm still getting her picture made and I'm so excited!  Thanks in advance for the advice!!  ;D

I don't know when you are supposed to start grooming, but I had Mai Tai groomed at 16 weeks, AFTER he was finished with all of his shots, except his rabies shot which he is due to get on Monday.  I did not bring him before he was done with his parvo shots, etc. because I knew he would be exposed to other dog's germs, parasites, etc. at the groomers.  I did not want him to pick up any diseases.  He did great at the groomers and looks adorable.  He will need it again in a few more weeks I think, as I like to keep a puppy cut on him.  Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I started taking Molly around 16 weeks too, after her shots. I was scared to take her before that!

Good idea.  My doctor told me that it would take about 3 days for the last shots to give Mai Tai full protection, so Laela should be fine by Wednesday.  Good luck.  Show us pics of the new cut.

I took Jolie around 5 months, before she got spaid, and the groomer cut it WAYYYY to short for my liking, but she looks adorable regardless and it helped because when she got spaid her hair didn't get in the way and it was easier to see how she was healing

I couldn't get her in to see Santa because he wasn't there by the time we were done at the groomers, but I took pictures with my camera phone
