my shorkie puupy bites alot and its hard sometimes.. HELP!!!

  her name is Winter she is just a puppy almost 3 months. She loves people but when she plays and get excited so much she bites them harder even us! Is there any recomendation how to get rid of this while shes young?

also shes fine sleeping by herself now but when she wakes up in the middle of the night she cries and try to jump onto our bed to sleep or play with us. any recomendation???

One thing you can do is when she bits let out a loud cry as loud as you can and you will find she will stop suddenly. This will make her relise it hurts and she doesn't want to hurt you. When your cutie was with her mum she would do the bitiing and if mum didn't like it mum would let out a yelp or a bark so let her know to back off. So try it and see hoew you go.

I found with Toby when he woke up and his bed was beside me I would just put my hand down and scratch him for a little while then just leave my hand on him for a few minutes then sowly bring my hand up and he would settle down and go to sleep. If you don't want to do that just egnore him and eventually he will settle down and go back to sleep. They do get better as they get older.

yeah i tried to pretend that i got hurt a lot of times before but it seems that it doesn't work. Winter is so hyper and happy dog and i guess thats just normal for a growing puppy.

HI, Ann is right about biting, that is what I had to do with mine also. As for sleeping, try whatever Ann says. For me it did not work, as she would be screaming in bed wanting to get out. So eventually, I would put my shirs inside her bed, or cover her up with it, and she settled down. I guess the smell off me is enough to satisfy her. I did had to ignore her also. Every time you pick him/her up, you brake the rule and puppy wins, so they will keep doing it. It's a battle of who will outlast. Good luck!

Everyone is right, you just have to keep doing it.  MM used to bite hard, but when she did, I let out a yelp and then ignored her.  She has to learn that when she bites, playing stops.

For the sleeping, can you leave your socks near where she sleeps?  And a tick tock clock... that helps.  Do you have a problem with her sleeping with you, though?

yes i have allergies thats why. And i did try to scratch her whenever she cries and try to jump onto our bed. Seems its working so far and i had to throw a toy to play with it.

The biting... ugh... i still havent find a way to stop this.

Harren, the biting can take a while to stop, but if you are consistent, it will stop. The yelping worked very well for my dog, Mo, but it only made Mai Tai think it was a fun game, get more excited, and bite more.  For Mai Tai, everytime he bit, we stood up, put our backs to him with our arms folded and ignored him until he calmed down.  When he calmed down, we told him good boy, and continued to play.  Also, whenever we caught him licking us, we would say "do nice" and praise him like crazy. He soon associated the phrase, "do nice" with licking and praise, so when he bit, we would tell him do nice, and he would.  Whenever he did, we would praise him like crazy.  The only problem with this is shorkies tend to be lickers anyway, and it can get very annoying, so be careful.    Minnie is right, they have to know all playing will stop if they bite.  Also, remember, she is probably teething too, so make sure she has plenty of chewy things to teeth on instead of you.  If she mouths you, you can also put a bone or toy in her mouth.  Good luck.

I agree with Karen when your puppie bite give it something else to chew on and praise it when it shew on the thing you give it rather than you. Make sure what you give your pup is not a shoe or clothing though or it might start chewing things that you don't want it to.LOL

oh, Mai tai, I forgot that, yes, it is very important to cross your arms and turn your back on the dog.  They hate that, and immediately they know they have been bad.  It is so effective I know longer have to do it!  (hence, I forgot)
