HEARTBROKEN!
« on: February 04, 2011, 04:32:22 PM »
My baby had her surgery today - spaying.
I wanted to cry all day, but chose to sleep it off till I had to go get her. When I picked her up, she was so drowsy and whiny. They gave her medication that lasts 24hrs.
I wrapped her up in blanket, and she kept starring at me complaining to me, soooo heart breaking!
Anyways, we are home and she is still soo calm and looks sad.
I have been cuddling her since we got home and she just huffs and puffs every so often with a little whimper here and there.
I am so heart broken and hate what I have done to her! I have dressed her in my old warm sock around her tummy for support and comfort, so she does not lick. We got rid of the collar.
Here is the pic:

You're killing me.  She looks so sad.  Don't worry, she will be fine.  I felt horrible for Mai and Mo also when they were neutered, but it is harder for a female.  I felt guilty because it was not a "necessary" surgery, know what I mean.  Of course, I felt it was for the best but they did not "need" surgery to save their lives.  Let us know how she does, and I wish you the best.

Thank you Mai Tai, that is exactly how I fell. It was not life saving surgery, but I am glad it's only done once. I wondered if I should have taken her before her first heat, but now I don't regret it not even a bit. She is only 4.2 pounds now, she would have been around 3 pounds before her first heat. Anyways, I will never forget that pricless sad look in her eyes, looking at me to get her out of her misery! My poor babay, my heart melts. On the other hand, my son was sick with fever all day too, so I had both of them tucked in bed and cuddling them, good God! Luckly, I got my son's fever down and he is in bed now sleeping, Kiki is starting to come around and is chewing on her bone right now. Still not moving much, but her eyes look brighter. It will be a long night! That is ok, I am use to it working nights at the hospital with newborns. I never want to do this again. I know it is for her better future, but if she had to do it again, I would go instead of her!  :(

Aw little Kiki!!! I wish I could say that I know how you feel but I really don't. Teddy (of course he got neutered not spayed) came home like nothing had ever happened. And we got him fixed a month early. 5 months old I think he was. Well anyways, best wishes for you and Kiki!

I know exactly how you feel.  I cried when minnie mee got fixed because she was shivering and in pain and looked so miserable.  The good news is that it only lasted a day, and after everything I've read, I am really glad I did it!  She'll be bouncing around in no time.

Thanks guys, well today, wouldn't you know it, she is all over the map again! She keeps pulling the sock off her body, does not lick, an ofcourse, into all the things she should not be doing  ::). She is bouncing around now, even tough she should not, but I can not keep her still  :-\. She was recharging last night I suppose  ::). I am so happy to see her back to normal so soon, but I am worried she will hurt herself or over do it. What a little DRAMA QUEEN :-*!
I gotta go, she got into my daughter's hall candies!

Thank you guys, she is doing much better. Little brat is hyper more than ever! Oh and I tought this would take care of the "humping" problem for her, but she seems to keep doing it to poor Polo who simply just lays on the floor minding his own business and she jumps on his back! Once I make her get off him, she developed this new thing where she brushes her back paw against the carpet few times! It's almost like she is saying "I did it again, and will be back, for now, buzz off!" Don't know what to do with her. She is so tiny, but so full of energy and life! My littel shit disturber, pardon my language!  ::)

Kiki, Mai Tai does the same thing with his back paws, kind of like a bull ready to charge.  It is a dominance thing because their paw pads are leaving  behind their scent.  Kiki's humping is not a sexual behavior but a dominant one, along with this new habit.  Poor Polo.

Hehehe great! Now she wants to dominate around here  ::)! I tought only boys do the back paw thing! I guess she learned from the best, poor Polo. But it does not seem to faze him. He just minds his own business and pretends as she is not doing anything. What a 4 pound beast she is turning into!

Sometimes humping means the dog is marking its territory 2 another dog. I heard that on animal planet
