Should I get a coat or sweater for Daisy?
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:59:48 PM »
I don't know whether it is better for her to adjust to the cold temps without a coat or should I get something for her to wear?  She sure isn't liking walking on the snow either.  we live in Iowa, and I think it is 9 degrees out today.  Any thoughts?

If she has the thin yorkie hair, and she is small, get a coat.  My little one shivers so much in the cold and I am working hard on trying to get him to wear a sweater.  My bigger one (16 plus pounds) has the Shih-tzu double coat and is fine in the cold weather.  He actually loves it, though of course, we take precautions in very cold weather.

Holy crap 9 degrees?! It's 83 degrees here today - stupid AZ Winters - and I still put my puppy in sweaters just bc I think they're cute. I would definitely get some for your pup!

I would get BOTH.  Raley wears sweaters and pj's inside but I put a coat on him when we go out if its cold.  He has the thin yorkie coat and stays cold natured year round.  Good luck!

Oh I have been trying so hard to get Mo to love his sweaters, but I am making no headway.  Whenever I make him wear one, he hides behind the tv, with his tail between his legs, and won't come out.  I have tried giving him treats as he gets used to the idea of the sweater, but he will not even eat when the sweaters are near him...bizarre little dog.
