the old mat and knot conundrum
« on: October 25, 2010, 08:29:27 PM »
Sadly I was worried MM was cold so I left her coat on. When I took it off three days later, she was covered in mats and knots.  I tried very carefully to comb her, and used my dematting spray etc, etc, etc, and totally traumatized her because there was so much work!  I cried.  and two days later it STILL wasn't done.  I didn't want to take her to a groomer because off goes her beautiful hair!!!

So I went to a store and saw this thing called petzoom.  It was 12.99 Canadian and had an attachment that it "claimed" would remove mats and knots.  . . I was sceptical but it was only 12.99...

And voila, it worked!  It was great because it didn't traumatize her like my dematting tool and the comb and the scissor which she hates.  And in 15 minutes all the bad stuff was gone!

Money well spent...

That is so good to know. I keep Kiki's hair at puppy cut, a bit shorter, and have not had any problems soo far. But will keep in mind for future. Also, knited sweaters will give these knots to them, keep away from knited stuff. ;)

I was reading some of these older posts and the product that was listed as "petzoom" does not exist except as a brush. Maybe it is a Canadian product? I can't seem to find it with a google search. I keep my dogs hair long and sometimes she gets herself into things that are difficult to comb out so I was interested. Anyone have info?

Thanks. I wonder what it is about this thing that makes it work better than a regular comb or brush? I can see you can clean it out kind of easy but otherwise it looks like a regular brush.
