1st generation or not??

I've been curious as to what westyn is,is he a 1st genaration shorkie??his litter waz the 1st born to me and I know that my yorkie gabbie had no other previous litter or my sisters shitzu ben had not gotten any other females pregnant.I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks!

First generation doesn't have anything to do with the number of litters a dog has.

First generation means the shorkies have a Shih tzu parent and a yorkie parent.  Second generation is when the parents are both first generation shorkies.

So I guess wes is a 1st gen shorkie as the parents are a yorkie and shitzu

West, I need to apologize to you for my answer.  I was racing around yesterday, read your question and replied too fast.  I now just saw that I never really answered your question.  But my  Mai always comes to the rescue.  What would the board ever do without her and everyone else here?  And yes Wes is a first generation, F1

If we are to go with the real definition of a Shorkie, and I guess we should, the mother is Shih and the father is the Yorkie.  Not the other way around.

Here, I found this statement:

The American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the Shorkie. In order to produce a true hybrid Shorkie, the mother is always a Shih Tzu and the father is a Yorkie.

I have heard that also,about the mom being the Shih tzu and the dad being the yorkie, but did not go into it.  Technically, Mai Tai is a first generation Yorkie-tzu, and Mo is second generation Yorkie-tzu.  I must say that Mai Tai looks very much like many shorkies I see on-line.  Mo, on the other hand, is almost always mistaken for a yorkie.

Same goes for my Raley.  The vet even labeled him a yorkie tzu because his mom is a yorkie and dad a shih tzu.  First generation shorkies and yorkie tzus look alot alike to me, though!
