Daisy gets carsick every time she goes for a ride
« on: August 03, 2010, 11:07:31 AM »
Does anyone have problems with carsickness with their babies?  Every time I take Daisy anywhere she vomits.  It's driving me crazy.

Knock on wood we haven't had a problem.  I have heard other people say that they withhold food prior to riding in the car.  Other than that I don't have any advice.  I'm sorry!

Car sickness is caused by one of 2 things.
Anxiety/stress or inner ear.  I had a Golden who was car sick every time.  Her's was inner ear.  There are a couple of places on the internet that speak of static discharge strips that hang on the bottom of the car and touch the ground.
Now if it is anxiety, a very slow conditioning process should definitely work. Also they do give dogs Drainmine but for a puppy you need to ask the vet.
Be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Teddy doesn't get car sick but he does seem to get some sort of anxiety in the car bc he is always whining even though he's in the back seat. Anybody have this problem? Good thing the vet is 5 minutes from our house when we need to make that necessary trip!

Daisy is 13 months, and still getting carsick.  I have tried keeping her in a soft kennel on the floor of the car, but she gets sick.  She starts shivvering as soon as we are headed for the car, and must work herself into a frenzie.  I am so disappointed we can't take her with us when we go places.
