Bee Sting

So Max got a bee sting on his leg and he was limping a bit. Now he walks fine but he is hesitant to jump off the bed or go down the stairs. Whereas before he would rush down the stairs. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. Does anyone know if using antihistamine would work? Or what I should do?

I wouldn't use anything at this point.  If he's not limping and showing distress signs like allergic reaction, I'd let well enough alone.  However I hope the little stinger is out of his leg.  Maybe wash that little area just to clean it.  Hopefully all be be good.  Did he yelp when he got stung?  Would have scared the bejesus out of me.

Aww, so sorry Max was stung.  MaiTai was bitten by a garter snake once, right on the nose, and the vet said just to wash the area to lessen the chance of infection.  At least snakes have no stinger to worry about.  Hope Max is one hundred percent soom.

Thanks all. My bf's dad took him for a walk and he said Max did yelp but wasn't crying or anything. Took it like a man..haha. We weren't able to see where the sting was until last Saturday when I saw him licking and biting at his paw. It was a small hole where the bee stung him. Didn't see the stinger but by then he could have already bitten it off or hopefully, there was no stinger.

I read that you should put a mixture of baking soda and water paste onto the affected area and a cold pack on top of that to ease the pain and swelling. We did so, minus the cold pack because he wasn't in any serious pain. He was probably just irritated. And of course unfortunately, we had to put the cone of shame on him so that he couldn't lick at it anymore until it heals. Right now, he is taking it like a trooper. I'm so proud of my boy
