Hi I am desperate for any advice. My little baby is hurt. My husband took her for park walk few days ago and they have been running in the grass. Then on the way home she kept running in the concrite. She was limping by the end of the day. My husband asked me if I noticed her limping. I checked her paws and front paws are injured. Her skin on the paws has peeled off in areas and has clear to bloodish discharge. She squeked as I was checking it. I managed to clean it off and put dressing on her front paws. I feel so bad and my husband feels he is to blame as he let her run on concrete. Any advice to spped her recovery would be appriciated. Is there any cream I can use on her paws that is safe? I feel terrible. No more walks for her on concrete for her from now on... She is only 3 pounds and 5.5 months. Thanks to everyones suggestions!

I would go to the vet for an antibiotic cream.  Was it hot out?  Sounds like she may have burned her pads, and burns get infected very easily.  Let us know how she is doing.  Small dogs succumb to infection more easily than large ones, so don't wait too long.

Oh, I see you just posted this today, and vets are most likely not available, but try to call yours, they may have some advice over the phone.  I would clean the wounds with saline solution in the meantime.  Hope it all works out for you.

Thank you all! I could not get a hold of vet today, but will try tomorrow. Anyways, I had her [aws bandaged and cleaned. I redid it tonight, one of them is looking better. She was licking it and I know she can nurture it better than I can, so I let her. It does not seem to have any more drainage coming off of it, so I am happy. But her other one that I tought would be better is acctually looking reddish and swollen slightly. I cleansed it and rebandaged it again. I do not want her to lick that one for a few days anywas. She does not limp anymore, thank God. I will keep an eye on it for infection. I hope it will be better tomorrow. I feel so bad for her, my heart goes to her.

I figured it would be hard to get a vet.  Until you get in there you can also mix peroxide with water and apply.  Straight peroxide might be too much on her little paws.  But it is a great all around antiseptic.
    Keep us posted.
And that was a warning to all of us on hot days.  Black tar roads are hotter than a sidewalk.  All this week Jemma will not be seeing outside.  All week in NJ it is in the high 90's.  Outside won't be seeing me either.!!!  haha

My poor boys want to be out by us in the pool, but it is just too hot for them.  We let Mai Tai out with us yesterday and he either fell or jumped into the pool, but boy did he want out IMMEDIATELY.  Thank God he did not rip the lining with his nails.

I hope she gets better soon. Please give her a huge for me and Alice  Smiley Poor little kiki. I would wait and see the vet tomorrow before you put anything on her feet. She is so small I would be very very careful if you keep her little feet bandage you could cut off her circulation it will make her feet swell  Sad

Oh thank you guys, I was working nights and did not have time to answer till now. Anyways, her little paws are much better. I took bandage off 2nd day and she has been licking them. They are so much better. It scabbed over and no drainage or infection visable. She is hopping and running around as her old usual self. I am soo happy. This was an eye opener for us with her being so fragile. She is not allowed on concrete anymore. She is my little princess of a sliky pillow. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!

Good to hear, so thanks for the update.  You made me very aware of the burning concrete situation.  I may not have realized it unless you posted.  Thanks again.
