People make fun of me cause I love my shorkie so much!

Has anyone else been expierencing people in there lives making fun of them because you love your little doggie so much.  I admit I treat him like a  baby, but thats what he feels like to me. He is just so cute and cuddly and precious. Even my kids think Im a weirdo. I have never been an animal lover so it is somewhat shocking to people that know me to see me behave like this I guess, but sometimes it really gets to me!! I just want to tell them to shut up!!! I have had a couple of people in my family that have been rude to my little dog and it just makes me so angry!!  Anyhow just wanted to see if anyone else is going through this..

I have actually experienced that but I just tell them were to stick it(regardless of family or not)my little guy is like my child and that's how it is!don't worry about what people say

My sister makes fun of me all the time, but my dad, who was never a big animal lover, absolutely loves my two shorkies.  He thinks they are the cutest guys.

Once when I told someone I loved my dog, he told me I was obsessed.  Another time, someone told me not to get too attached as it would be "sick."  When a third guy told me not to obsess about my dog, I told him not to obsess about his daughter, and he shut up!  I think because I'm female in my fifties and divorced these guys (yes, they are all guys-- no woman has ever said such a thing to me) think just because I love my dog I've become some sort of strange witch-like recluse.  I admit it made me pretty upset at the time, but strangely enough, once all three guys met minnie mee, they rather obsessed about her, too!

That is soooo true. I never thought my husband would obsess about a dog as much he does about Toby. I think anyone who says that to you is sad so you need to feel sorry for them.

I agree with Ann. My husband tought I was very obssessed with Kiki (gotta admit, but to the point). I think he was just jelous, as he said once ever since Kiki came I put him at the bottom of the list, silly. He kept telling me she was just a dog, but in the last several days, I let him do his bonding in his own ways, and guess what? I am sitting here reading about shorkies, while he is out with her in the park playing. He feels that she needs her play time in the park with him, as he "thinks" she loves going with him to the park and is happy with him in the park.... Oh well, I guess if they keep it up, I will be complaining about being at the bottom of his list.
Oh, he just walked in with her carring her in the hand with big smile, telling me to go easy with her as she needs to rest now, and she is too hot not to give her water right away, as she might get sick. I am supose to wait few min. Now he is laying on the floor beside her watching her drink water... WHAT HAPPENED???

LOL kiki, we have the same thing going on here.  When I first brought Mo home, my husband took one look at him and said, "What is that?".   He knew we were getting another dog and had agreed to it, but Mo was so so small and sickly and ratty looking, he could not believe Mo was a dog.  Now though, Mo is in bed with my husband, something my husband said would NEVER NEVER happen.  I did not want the dog in bed with us, but wow, my husband is attached to this little guy.  It is too funny.

I think for people who has never had a pet they probably won't ever understand the bond that we share with them. My boyfriend and his dad wasn't too happy about me bringing home a dog. But now, they all love him. My boyfriend's dad even told his family that Max is his little grandson..haha.

So for all those people who think we're crazy, I say "never judged a person less ye be judged."
