KIKI HAS TO BE SPAYED
« on: September 13, 2010, 08:41:59 PM »
The time came where she is old enough to get spayed  :(
I hate to take her in because I get worried sick thinking of WHAT IFS happen while there ???
I think my husband will have to do this for me! I will not have heart to leave her there and go home. She has never been away from me, not even a day!
I called few times a vet to see how it works, but I chikened out ;D every time they wanted to book her in. She is so little that I worry for her :'( .
We got our other dog fixed when he was 8 months, and he was much bigger, about 8 pounds then. I worried about him too, but not as much as for Kiki. My husband is a little offended that I take "sides" as he says over the dogs, but I can't help it.
She is a girl!
Anyways, I still have not found a currage to book her in yet, but I have to. She is getting a little out of control with our other poor dog Polo  :-[.
LOL, she gets so excited :D and is climing all over him, but he just lays on the floor, pretending he is asleep and takes it all in form her ::).
I am amazed  :o that he did not loose patience with her by now! We gotta do what we gotta do I guess, just cross fingers and hope for the best, Right? ;D

Aww! Poor Kiki! :( I hope she's ok afterwards. Is your vet familiar with small dogs? I believe I've read they use a different kind of anesthesia on them..

Smaller dogs actually do better with this operation, and really, you've got to do it for her sake.  Girl Dogs especially are at risk of many kinds of cancer if they don't get the operation.  The earlier the better if you love her.  Takes one day to recover and a couple of cone of shame days... I never regretted having MM fixed!  she is healthy and happy and doesn't miss her messy female things at all!

I suppose I have to take her next month. I waited for my other dog to be 8 months, so I will wait with her also, so sometime end of this month or begining of next. I wish I did not have to but I understand it is better for her in a long run. I will let you know when that day comes! I will be glued to this site, with box of kleenex while my hubby takes her :(. Thank God for this site, I feel better knowing you all understand what I am talking about, as my hubby thinks I am funny. >:(

They usually use  Isoflurane or Sevoflurane to put the fur babies to sleep.  It is #1 for small breeds as far as safest.
Be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I know how you feel.  I'm sure most of us on this board do!  I had my little boy, Raley, neutered in July at the age of 7 months and he never skipped a beat.  Honestly, it was hard to tell he'd had surgery.  We recently got a female shorkie and she will be spayed in late December or early January.  I'm sure I'll be worried about her when the time comes but honestly people had me so worried about things that could go wrong with having Raley neutered that I felt like screaming.

Just remember that you are doing the best thing for your little one's health.  Try not to stress!  If you do, we will all be right here for you!

Good luck!
