a lil problem
« on: August 28, 2008, 06:55:01 PM »
So...i've been waiting for this lil problem to just go away, but now that it's not I want to see if anyone else is having the same problem.  Chewy gets very excited when people come over and tinkles or lets go of a lil pee.  He doesn't actaully pee, just lets go little drops.   :-\  I have been doing so much cleaning and although people say it's normal I was wondering if anyone else has delt with this and what they do to prevent it.

i have the same issue along with a relapse yesterday (4 accidents) in her potty training. but the 1 thing that i found to kinda sorta fix the excited tiny tinkle is we are working on a stay command for when people come in the house. i have put a note on my door not to ring the door bell cuz that just makes things worse and when someone knocks and rowan does her 'spaz' thing and runs like a lunatic to the front door i go to the front door and tell her 'back' when she sits and is as calm as she is going to get, she is sitting but you can tell from her tail going a million miles a min she is ready to jump at any sec, i open the door and tell her back again if she gets up, more than likely she does get up but right now she doesn't move from her spot just stands there. i let the person in and tell them to ignore her for a few minutes (its hard but it works) and tell rowan back again, most of the time she goes back to her spot and does this cute sit stand sit stand i so wanna jump on you. but so far i think cuz she is focused on the fact that she has to follow my commands in order to get the attention from the person that has come to the she has managed to have more control (not total we still have a few tiny tinkles but nearly as many).

so far my approach has been to refocus rowan's attention and see if it works. but honestly i have no clue what i'm doing LOL so if anyone has any better ideas i am soooooooo open cuz while i've been able to reduce the amount of tiny tinkles i haven't gotten rid of them all.

Hi, it sounds like you are doing a lot of right things, especially making the dog be calm and submissive before opening the door and not allowing the dog to jump on visitors.  If you ever watch Cesar Millan, that is what he does too.  The tinkling you are talking about sounds like what they call submissive urinating and some dogs are prone to it.   MY sister's cockapoo does it, but only for certain people, so we make her greet those people outside.  I am going to google it online to see if we can come up with any advice and hope I don't get linked up to any bizarre sites because of the subject.  Wish me luck. I will report back with any info  LOL
