Teething???
« on: August 11, 2008, 05:03:45 PM »
When dogs are teething do they lose their teeth and have a space in their gums?

I noticed a few days ago that Rowan had what looked like 2 missing teething in the front on the bottom, then today it looks like she is missing 2 more. She is eating fine and doesn't seem to be in any pain in fact she loves playing tug-o-war with me.

I feel like that first time mom that calls up her mom and the doctor every few hours cuz the baby did something strange lol.  :D

Yes :) It's fine. Don't worry...they lose their puppy teeth and they get theit adult teeth. Chewy already went through that  ;D

Yes I was surprised when I found Tobyies teeth on the floor when I was cleaning. I had dogs before but they always stayed outside so when they lost their teeth I didn't know about it. Then when I got Toby he was inside all the time so I kept finding teeth when he would loose them. It worried me at first but I figured that if we loose our baby teeth, then why not dogs. I did ask the vet also and they did say that it was normal. :D

my sadie is teething right now too. She's a little over 5 mo old and we noticed that many of her adult teeth were coming in while her baby teeth still hadn't fallen out. I had read online that it is sometimes necessary to pull out the baby teeth because they won't fall out and interrupt the adult teeth from growing in properly.  So, we took her to the vet and they pulled out the rest of her baby teeth (7 total!  :o ) She got them pulled out yesterday and while yesterday she was reluctant to eat because of the pain, she is eating up fine today.   :)

Yeh we do worry but at least we care not like some people. It is good to hear from so many shorkie owners with their concerns. You all are good and caring owners. ;)
