Tough grip
« on: December 14, 2009, 06:19:22 PM »
Teddy, he usually snatches napkins off of the table, and I have to get them out of his mouth. Well, today, he started growling and he had the firmest grip! This ever happen to any of you with your shorkies, or is it just me? I got part of it out of his mouth, and as i was tugging it out of his mouth, he snapped his jaws down right on my finger! :-\ That hurt! Just wondering if anybody else's shorkie is this vicious over a napkin!
:D I love shorkies, especially T.B. :D

Cash will grab things (more so now than ever before) and run off with them, but he knows "drop it" so i've never tried to tug anything away from him before.. i'm sure he'd think it was a game if i did.

Max loves playing with napkins and tissues...thankfully unused ones. We usually just press the sides of his mouth and it will open up for you. Little trick we learned from watching groomers brush Max's teeth.  :)

Teddy must think it is a game of tug, but you had better win to teach him who is the leader of your pack. Mai Tai also knows the drop it command, so we don't have this problem.

napkins and tissues must be a shorkie thing, my first shorkie used to pull all the tissues out of the tissue box and also would steal toilet paper and run with when it was still attached to the roll, Ozzy my second shorkie also takes t.p. and wraps it all over himself, loves tissue & napkins too.

Napkins are the big thing in my household with T.B. I know he thinks it is a game, but he does have this tough grip. Sometimes, I am able to pry his mouth open and retrieve whatever it is he had. And even better, a couple of times he has just lay down and led me take it out. We are working on it.

Wait, I just completely read what kim had said. We DO press the sides of his mouth, but this "tough grip" causes his mouth to stay shut unless I am lucky enough to have him open his mouth just a bit so I can slip my finger in there and get whatever he has (usually paper or napkin).
