When I was giving Roxy a bath today, I noticed she has like 2 little red sores behind one of her ears. I'm not sure what it is or if she did that to herself by scratching so much. I am going to try and put neosporin on it and see if that helps any and if not I will get her into the vet Tuesday. Anyone seen something like that on their dog?

yeah it's clearing up... it's not as red and she doesn't seem to be scratching it so much.

Well we went to the vet yesterday to examine Max's ear. Thankfully he does not have any ear infection. In fact, the vet says his inner ear canal is extremely clean..haha. He just has some minor irritation due to allergy. Apparently, the vet says it is common for dogs who have allergies to have it on the ears. That is why they scratch at it a lot. So she gave us this cream to help ease the irritation. Yea! Max should be all better within a week...hopefully  :)

She believes it's just seasonal allergies because before he wasn't scratching his ears so much and his diet hasn't really changed. But she did confirm that Shorkie breeds due tend to have allergies when fed too much corn, soy, and wheat.

You'll probably have to check with the vet because ear mite you can't check yourself since it is way down in their ear canal. Unless you notice some black debris then it could be ear mites. It just could be because he's been scratching too much
due to allergies.

Also, it is important to make sure you really dry their ears and their hair underneath their ears after you bathe them so as not to irritate them later on.

Here's a link for a home remedy to sooth the itch

I went and brought some ear cleansing formula on thursday from the petstore.  Its good for all infections of the ear...ive been seeing improvement since she started using it.. hoping its just an ear infection rather than ear mites..yikes!
