Standard Cut?
« on: October 03, 2009, 05:47:47 PM »
I was wondering if there was a standard or original hair cut or something for the shorkie. Teddy got the hair above his eyes trimmed and he got his paws shaved. I was just wondering how you got your shorkie's hair cut, if you did. Ok, thanks!
:D I love shorkies, especially T.B. :D

In the summer, I shave Mai Tai, but in the winter, I keep his hair long with trimming around eyes, feet, butt, and mouth.  I am not sure which way I like him better.

I'm not sure if there is one either...Bailey has the fine yorkie type hair not the shuh tiz double coat...I keep the hair on her face & butt & feet  trimmed ..nothing shaved..and after getting her puppy hair that was black trimmed off i'm going to let her hair grown in now and see what she looks like.....the vet shaved spots on both of her front legs when she was spayed and her hair is very slowly growing back in..she looks funny since the hair above and below those spots is much longer

Oh, I forgot to say that he got his paws shaved, the hair above his eyes trimmed, he got the fur around his butt cut, and his beard got cut so pretty much the same as Mai tai in the winter. Still need to post the picture. Thanks for reference, though, that's exactly what I wanted

I usually give Max a puppy cut. We also trim the hair around his eyes, paws, and butt.

Yeah, that's what Mai tai and I were talking about, the puppy cut. You can have certain places shaved or trimmed for the puppy cut, but the puppy cut is when you don't want the dogs fur to grow long so you give it this cut! I knew that we were going to get Ted the puppy cut when we first got him because I will not brush that long fur if I also have to brush out the other knots that he gets! This groomer lives 5 minutes away and she used to be our neighbor, so we give her tips because she does such a good job! On his last visit, he got his ear hairs pulled, nails clipped, bathed, brushed, and of course, the puppy cut! All for $35.00. Sorry for going on about this!

That's pretty much how I get Cody cut. In a month he'll proubly need his whole body trimmed cuz it's getting a little longer then I like brushing lol! And this time(this week) will be the first time his ears gett trimmed, he had this cute black tips going and it looks so cute, but now it's looking ratty so it's getting cut this time!

Teddy had black tips on his ears, too! But we just took him to the groomer, as I've said, and I keep forgetting to state that he got his ears trimmed. His ears were so big before we took him to the groomer, but now I realize that all of that was just fur! LOL! If your puppy is like Teddy and you get the puppy cut, you will be amazed by the different dog that they are. I just love all the different colors of his fur so I didn't get his back fur trimmed because if I did, all the black would probably be gone since there isn't much of it. Teddy must've been pretty good at the groomers, because he returned perfect! I was so surprised at how different he looked when I got there, but before that I wanted to get there even before they were done, but I knew I had to wait until they called me. I'm glad that the groomers place is only 5 or so minutes away from our house. It is convienent, even if we just want to trim his nails or get his ear hairs pulled! By the way, how did everybody's pups react to getting their ear hairs pulled, if you know by chance. I remember the first time when Teddy was a little puppy we took him to the vet and he was squealing and I just felt so sorry for him. I think of his new hair cut as his big puppy hair cut!  :D So, it seems that everybody is mostly getting their shorkies' hair cut in the same way here, all the puppy cut! The convienent puppy cut is the way to go for a cute, new looking puppy if that's what you want! I am recommending this to everybody if you haven't gotten the puppy cut yet, because the puppy cut is so much more easier to manage. Ok, good luck!  :D
