I didn't read all the replies thoroughly so sorry if I'm being repetitive. You should look into those WizDog or similar indoor dog potties that prevent them from shredding anything. Also, I posted something called "Patio Potty" and Cash posted a similar link as a response. The link that Cash posted is for a product that uses synthetic grass and can be used indoors, for those dogs that will only go on grass.

Yeah, I'm just reading like the first sentences because I am busy in the mornings. Teddy has the periods of time when he just thinks 'oh, I am going to take the kitchen towel and then shred my pee pee pad'! I hate it when that happens, but I snatch everything out of his mouth and then he expects a treat. Christine, that will probably be helpful for Mai tai. I don't need them because we have been going outside AND using pads ever since we got our shorkie, Teddy, and good thing too. That way I don't have to go through all of this. He has the opportunity to use his pads and the opportunity to go outside. If this is what you girls are doing, then I tell you it works out well. Teddy stands by the door and we let him out when he has to go potty, and when he goes potty outside/ on pee pee pads than we still give him a treat. We will stop when we are POSITIVE that he has the hang of everything, and giving him these treats that he loves isn't doing any harm. When he does a trick then we give him a piece of food as a reward for being so smart. LOL!  :D Well, good luck with Bailey, Monty, Mai tai, Mojito, Jemma, and Cash! Hope these pee pee pad problems will soon be solved. I will help all that I can, but it is not in my best part of knowledge. I help in things I can. In this topic, I am just kind of explaining my experiences and saying good luck, though my experiences may help you with something from time to time, occasionally. Ok, bye!
:D I love shorkies, especially T.B. :D

So as I was reading all the post, I'm wonder 2 things here. First, are your pee pads situated near a door? Second, do you give the dog a treat after he has potty on his/her pee pad?

I had the same problem as Mai Tai when Max was a couple months old. The reason for placing the pee pad near a door is to train them to go to the door and sit there to let you know that they needed to potty. Giving them a treat and praising them each time they potty on the pee pad lets them know that potty on pee pad equals treats. If they don't go on the pee pad just tell them "No" and place them on the pee pad and say "potty". Do this for a few weeks and in no time they will understand to pee on the pad. Also, it's good to use a new one after about 3 or 4 uses. If the pad is full of urine they won't pee on it again. With Max we change the pad about 3 times a day (that's if no one is walking him).

Also, it is good to get rid of the pee smell on the floor. I learned that they like to pee in the same area. I suggest using bleach with water on hard floors and oxy clean or something with carpets.

Just a side note. If you are giving the dog a lot of treats, remember to decrease the amount of food you give them.

thanks guys for the ideas....i guess the problem is when i'm home bailey goes to the door and i take her out to pee and poop......it's only the one day when no one is home for 8 hrs that's the problem....i don't want to now tell her when i'm home to go on the pee pee pad....ugh
