Glad Teddy is doing better.  I'm going to keep the olive oil and pumpkin in the back of my mind should I ever run into this problem myself.

If I tried to keep anything in the back of my mind, it would promptly fall out of the back of my head.  I have to write everything down and then I forget to look at what I wrote.  The other day, I forgot to feed Mojito his lunch because my girls are sick.  Sometimes I feel older than my years.

I know this is an old thread, but I am so happy to have it and this site.  Poor Mo is so constipated this morning, and as it is Thanksgiving, the vet is not in.  I came right to this site and knew I would find an answer.  Poor guy keeps straining to poop but can't, and he won't eat either.  His stomach is growling and he is whining occasionally.  I feel so bad for him.  I gave him some olive oil and he licked it up right off the spoon, so let's hope he produces something soon.  At least he fell asleep for now, but I want to get some food into him so his blood sugar does not drop.  I am afraid it is time for the nutrical.  He hates it so much I have to force it into his mouth.

Well I am thrilled to say that Mo pooped right before we sat down to Thanksgiving dinner so we had much to give thanks for.

I'm glad he's doing better. What is nutrical? My vet gave me this syrup stuff that is supposed to keep them from developing that dreaded hypoglycemia as puppies. He LOVES that stuff and will do ANY trick of it. Mine is called nutra-drops and you can find information on the vet's website www.animalwellness.net. Just in case you are concerned about his blood sugar level, it may help to have some stuff that he'll eat.

Nutrical is also for hypoglycemia, but Mojito hates it.  I will have to try Nutra drops instead as I hate forcing Mo to take it when he needs it.  Thanks..

I know these posts are old, but I am going to try a little olive oil on my puppies (Kuma) food.  He is straining to go and has not gone since 4:00 p.m. yesterday!  I am more worried that he ate something, and will have my hubby watch him today ... as I have to go to work.  Do your little darlings eat everything on the ground too? I should have called mine Hoover ... that dog picks up everything, even my kids weren't as bad.  The other day I pull a huge carpet string from the cat scratching post out (I don't have any carpets down stairs where we are confining him for now).  Hope this works, and so glad that I found this site!

Yep, mine ate everything on the ground, including a half of a mole once...not kidding.  Now that they are older, one and a half years for Mai tai, and 9 months for Mo, they are not as bad.

If Olive Oil doesn't help I would also try apple cider vinegar. Unfortunately Max is having the opposite effect..haha. But apple cider vinegar does help with the pH balance. Hope he gets better soon.

I put 1/4 tsp of olive oil on Kuma's food this morning .... I think he has gone at least 8 times since then. Course he was a mess after being in the laundary room today ... so he had a bath, and is still doing the boot scoot on the floor.  I think he may be ready for a grooming soon to get those glands taken care of - he is 12 weeks old.  I actually trimmed him up back there today after the bath since everything seems to be sticking & was pretty stinky too.

Love this site

Hi, I have to figure the whole picture thing out ... tried loading one the other day and got a message that the file was too large.
