Chewing
« on: September 15, 2009, 12:49:54 PM »
Anyone find a GREAT toy that they would recommend for chewing?  I bought a Kong but Oz doesn't like the stuffing product.  He's ok with the chew sticks but they don't last long.
I bought a nylabone which he had no interest in but what I really wanted to get was a Galileo - but they didn't have any small ones.
He like rawhide but I worry about leaving him alone with it when we're at work for the day in case he breaks off a piece and chokes.

Well, that's a tough one. We have about a billion little bone toys in this house that Teddy plays with. Well, Teddy likes to play with this fat, long rope that we gave to him. We play tug of war with it. I also gave him some cat toys that were Ok for dogs to have and those occupy him. I also got him these little tug of war ropes. I don't know if this helps because we have a big variety of toys here! Good luck!

Hi
Have you tried put other stuff that he likes in the Kong. I put treats in Toby's or smackos they all seem to work for him. You don't have to put what they suggest.

I hope that helps!!!! ???

Monty didn't want anything to do with the toys the store suggested. The Vet suggested Bully Stix and he was so in love with it that he didn't want to do anything but chew it. He didn't even want to go pee because he didn't want to leave it. He kept jumping on the door to go back in, then ran back and forth throughout the house looking for it because we took it out of the kitchen and put it in his crate. He had no idea and freaked out. I was so upset that I didn't discover it sooner.

Neither one of my dogs likes the kong ball, and won't even try to get the treats out of them either.  Cash loves the rawhide twists.. I'll have to check out the bully stix. never heard of such a thing before.

OMG bully sticks are GREAT.  Just watch the ones you buy.  Some really smell, real yucky too

I got mine at Petland Discounts. Mine was wraped in a clear shrink wrap type of plastic with a sticker on it that just said "Bully stix" and the ingredients. I have since thrown the sticker out so that's all the info I have, sorry. :(

Oh and yes, it does smell bad. For a while I thought Monty was peeing on himself because he smelled like pee. I realized it was the bully stix that was stinky and he was rolling around with it.

I am going to petsmart tomorrow, so I will probably pick up bully stix too.  I am a copy cat.

Teddy is occupied with the toys we have, but if I get around to it I might get one.

I looked at bully sticks yesterday, but when I read the back of the package it said that too much use might irritate a dog's gastrointestinal tract.  I can't give that to Mojito who has been pooping blood and mucus forever.  I may try it for Mai Tai though.
