Cash, Mai Tai is on Beneful too when I don't cook for him because that is what he was on when I got him and I never changed it.  He doesn't love it, and seems to like Science Diet a whole lot better because whenever I feed it to Mojito, he goes nuts for it.  I was going to gradually switch him to it, but now I read it is not good either, so not sure what I want to put them on, but I want them to be on the same food.  Funny, when I told one vet that Mai Tai was on beneful, she did not have a problem with that.  When I told her partner that Mojito was on Beneful (that is what he was on where he was born), she told me that was "garbage" and that I should switch to Science Diet.  So go figure.

Shorkiejam...just wanted you to know that since I logged on (2 hrs ago) I have been doing alot of research on pet foods as well.  You said you feed your dog Canidae food.  I have seen alot of positive feed back, but also alot of recent negative feed back on consumer affairs as well.. Just thought I'd share this website with you just in case you should have any of these problems.

Cash, THANK YOU so much for this info.  Jemma will make the transistion to another food.  I had no idea that Diamond Foods were involved with this transistion.  Many negative things on Diamond thru the years.  They changed their formula eh?  Well they are right in saying all customers didn't get the new info.
Jemma hasn't had any reactions to the food but because she hasn't doesn't mean the food is good for her.  Now back to the drawing board for a new food.
But most of the 6 stars have way too high of a fat/protein, not good especially for yorkies with liver shunt problems.  And the Shorkies have little tummy upsets. So I will make the turn over, VERY gradual.
Thank you so much Cash, I really appreciate the update on this food.

I thought Teddy's vomit was orange/brown?  If it's yellow and foamy, yea empty stomach. Jemma had that once in awhile in the morning when she was younger.  Fed her a little later in the evening and that solved it.  But if it is orange/brown, that is possible infection and possible old blood.  A definite call to the vet, especially if this has been a on going thing.  Does her dog food have any artificial coloring in it?  Maybe a change in dog food might help.  I'd ask the vet though about the vomiting.
Teddy, let us know what the vet said ok?

ok, I got Cash a new food.. Nature's Recipe Farm Stand Select... It is only rated a 3 on that site you gave, but it appears to have some really good ingredients in it.. way better than what he was on anyway.  It is sold in Petsmart and was currently on a really good sale today so that was nice.

Well Teddy, you do what you think is right.  He may not be acting abnormal but his vomiting is abnormal.
good luck

Yep, he seemed to like it.. again he's not a huge eater so we'll have to see how it goes.  I am transitioning the foods so I hope there won't be any problems.  I'm sure I could have found him a better food yet, but I have to admit I hate to go to more stores than I need to, and the shops that sold the higher end foods are not even in the same town as me.  This is the best I found at Pet Smart.  Like you said.. fingers crossed!

I am going to the vet tomorrow with Mojito so I will ask him about that food, Cash. Of course, what does he know, as his associate recommended Science Diet in the first place.  I just want to find one food and then stick to it as Mojito has had his food changed once already, and his little bowels are a irritated.  I did it gradually too, but he seems to be very sensitive to things.  Good luck in changing Cash's diet.  Let us know how he tolerates or likes the food.

I think I'm just gonna switch to the raw prey food.  No dog food.  All raw stuff like they use to eat in the wild.  No cooking.  Reading lots of info on it.
There seems to be a whole lot of people turning to it.  I just read 7 pages on another forum who all feed it to their Yorks.  I might give it a shot.  What they get is not expensive either.  I think one woman said it costs her under 20 for a whole month.  Not bad at all.  Now if I can get past giving Jemma gizzards, yucky, it might prove to be ok, lol

Thanks Karen, I'd appreciate it if you asked your vet.  The good thing about this food is it is for all life stages so I can give it to both dogs and not have to buy a puppy and adult formula.
Shorkiejam-  The raw food diet seems like a good idea if it fits in with your lifestyle.  We are traveling alot and the dogs come with all the time.  It'd be nice to be able to supplement with dog food as well, though I don't know how that would work either if their stomach is sensitive.  Keep us posted.

Cash, so sorry, in a moment of senility, I completely forgot the name of the dog food you are using when I went to the vet.  I should have written it down, but thought I would remember it.  My memory is not what it used to be.  I wanted to ask him about it because I wanted to switch my dogs to it if it were good.  My vet did say that he thought Innova was very good, but very expensive.  He said with a dog as small as Mojito is it would not matter how expensive it is because a whole bag would last a month anyway.  I want to look it up on the site Shorkiejem put up, but it is temporarily down now.  I will try later.

In the meantime, Mojito is now 2.09 lbs, whatever that means.  14days ago he was 2.08, which at the time, the tech told me was 2 lbs 8 oz, but the vet says it is .08 oz which means he is just slightly over 2 lbs.  I think he is wrong, and don't understand why they say 2.08 lbs anyway since pounds are not metric.  If you are talking metrically, 2.5 lbs would be 2 lbs 8 oz.

Ok, so Innova looks good according to the site Shorkie put up but it only had one review.  I think I will switch Mojito to it, very slowly.  He eats so little it could cost 100 a bag and still not cost me much...LOL.  Ok, I am exaggerating but you know what I mean.  Shorkie, have you sĂȘn anything on Innova?
