Obedience training
« on: August 18, 2009, 04:14:39 PM »
I talked to my friend earlier today and she said that she went to pet smart to get Cooper, her lab, in obedience training. The service they gave did not satisfy her, so I am wondering where I should take Teddy for obedience now that I heard that. Please tell me anything reassuring. I also think that she didn't like it because she had a hard time training him on her own. Thanks!
:D I love shorkies, especially T.B. :D

With obedience traing it is actually training you and some people don't take to that that well. It is hard work and you do need to perserver. I had trouble myself but I kept going and I'm glad I did. In the begining I didn't see where I was making mistakes and I would get frustrated but learned the more I got that way my tone in my voice would change and Toby would not listen. These dogs do get distracted easily so you must make sure you have their attention always. It is just like teaching a child. Good Luck What ever you decide. :)

I agree with Ann. It's training you and alot of people don't understand that or don't believe it's them. They are just like kids they don't know better, they are looking at you for understanding and sometime is hard. Cody does pretty good, unless there are kids or small animals around(that's his distractions). I'm still working with him, but every day he's getting better.

Thanks Ann and Codysmom, you are probably right. I am still deciding which place to go to, but I think I will call both places and ask what they do and I will check out their reputation
