Ollie's graduation
« on: August 05, 2009, 03:20:43 PM »
Ollie will graduate from puppy school tonight!  I am so proud of him!  He has been doing so well.  The school I take him to has many additional classes offered.  I was just wondering how much training you all done with your pups.

Congratulations to you and Ollie!! I haven't taken Indy yet, but i plan on it after she heals from her surgery. What do they do in puppy school, is it the basic commands? Just curious! Again, Congratulations!!

Yeah!! I'm sure you're so proud!
Cody graduated last night and I was so excited for him. We just finished puppy and we are going to move on to intermedite at the begining of Oct. We could have started in 2 weeks, but it's with a different trainer and I really like ours so we are going to wait, plus I want to work with Cody more on the stuff we just learned. After intermediate I'm not sure we'll see out that goes and where we want to go with the training.

Sounds like you guys are doing amazing with your training at home.  Ollie scored 93% on his test tonight so he did pretty well.  However, he wanted nothing to do with the cap they tried to put on for pictures! :(  They taught us sit, stay, come, walk on a leash, spin, stay at doorway, greet, and I may be missing a few others.  It was a great class and a great way to get him to interact with all other pups.  This was just for puppies 3-5 months old so they were all so fun!

Yeah, if we didn't have the baby gate then Teddy would probably jump on the people that would walk in when I get the door. He also knows how to walk on a leash, he will walk beside you like a little show dog, LOL! Teddy wouldn't even move on the leash at first when we got him though, we would put on the leash and he would just sit down and look up at me like what am I supposed to be doing? It was funny I have to admit, though.

I got the picture loaded.  It looks like he is behaving but I'm actually squishing the cap on his head with my other hand.  You can tell by looking at his right eye he is freaking out!  He was an absolute wiggle worm.  He doesn't usually have such a crazy looking eye!

Congart's Ollie. Toby is 3yrs old and he has completed puppy pre-school and also dog obedience. There are more classes but I think that is as far as I want to go. The rest of the training I will do myself. I think once you have complelted the dog obedience classes you can pritty much do the rest yourself. The dog obedience was a must for me as it taught me how to train Toby in the correct manner.
I think it is really up to you hoe far you want to go. Good luck!!! :D

Hi  Yeh Live in Australia and we have dog obedience classes put on by our local council. Volenter trainers devote their time to train we pay $4 a class and we can go as long as we like and once we think our dog are ready we are tested and then if we pass we get a certificate from our council.
