shorkie weight
« on: July 22, 2009, 04:11:29 PM »
I was if your shorkie is as chubby as Teddy is. LOL. :D The breeder guarenteed that he would be under 10 lbs full grown, but I don't think that that is going to happen. ;) So please vote on my poll or quote or both!
:D I love shorkies, especially T.B. :D

I voted at 7lbs. as of 2 weeks ago Cody was 7.2lbs and 5 months. I have no clue how big he'll be. The breeder told me he was going to be 5-6lbs his mom was an imperial shih tzu at 5lbs and his dad was yorkie at 5.5lbs.

bailey was 6  1/2 lbs at just under 5 months....the breeder told us she would be about 8 lbs...our vet says around 10 lbs....which is fine with us....we weren't looking for a super small pocketbook dog...just one that would be smaller than our cocker spaniel who was 25 lbs

I just can't imagine what Laci must look like.. Cash is around 10-11 lbs and he seems so tiny to me.  Hope you can get a picture posted.. put her next to something so we can see the true size.  (I've seen them pictued next to pop cans before)  :)

Cody had his vet check up today~he's now 8.5lbs!! He's been gaining about a lb a month so I'm guessing he's going to be about 11lbs or so. That seems so big considering I thought he'd only be 5lbs! O'well he's still a cutie so I guess well keep him lol  ;D

I just talked to my friend who had Mojito weighed yesterday, and he is only 1 lb, 8 oz at 10 weeks.  Also, his fontanel (soft spot in his head) is not all the way closed yet.  I called my vet and she said not to be concerned yet, but to feed the pup more often (about 5 times a day) and give him Nutrical in between.  She says some small breeds take a long time for their soft spots to close up.  She says that Mojito may only grow to be about 3.5 lbs. which is a little too small for us.  I want Mai Tai to be able to play with his new pal at some point.  Not sure what to do at this point.  The vet says they should be ok together once Mojito is full grown and that he will probably rule the roost as those tiny ones get quite an attitude.  Hmmm, maybe I should have picked the bigger dog, but it is too late now.  I am sure it will all work out the way it should.

On a side note, I have to give a lot of credit to my friend.  She is handling this pup, along with 9 others and a brand new baby.  She does so well by her dogs in terms of feeding etc. that I don't know how she does it.

can't even picture how big mojito is..when we got bailey she was 4 lbs....1 lb 8 oz wow..has mai tai seen mojito yet ?  we've brought bailey to play with my brother and sister in laws 2 goldens..bailey is probably around 7 lbs now and they are both probably 60-70 lbs...when bailey first saw them she was scared..but once she sniffed them she was fine....on was good with her and they were able to play...the other one wasn't...she kept trying to hold bailey's head now with her paw....so my sister in law put her inside....so mai tai and mojito should be able to play together
