Fletcher doesn't bark much at all (thank goodness!).  He barked all night the second night we had him, because we put his crate in another room.  Ever since we moved it to our bedroom he's been fine.  He occasionally barks at our cat, who he's trying to play with, but that's about it!  My cat is 12-years-old and outweighs him by about 15 lbs, so he has no interest in playing!

Mai Tai barks if we don't have him in our room at night too.  He also used to bark like crazy at other dogs outside, but is much better now.

You all need to have more than one dog and you'll hear your shorkie bark! Roxy and Rico play and mouth with eachother all the time and are both very vocal. Rico my shih tzu more so than Roxy, she's still more soft spoken, but she'll bark if she wants to get her point across. And of course she barks/whines/cries when she has to go kennel
