Mai Tai- Thanks for the input.  I don't understand the way that some dogs can be like a Jeckle and Hyde either.  Jack (my bigger dog) seems to be getting worse with age.  If he wasn't growling at my kids friends I wouldn't mind as much.. But some things are just not acceptable.  It's unfortunate because Cash can come with us everywhere meanwhile Jack ends up being put in the bedroom when company comes over.  So Mai Tai is a barker huh?  I haven't really experienced that with Cash, and have been so nervous that he'd pick it up from Jack as he barks all the time.  Though you know how people will refer to little dogs as ankle bitters??  Cash does do that!  I just thought that it was something people would say because of their size.. guess not.  :)

Hi
You definately need to stop that ankel bitting. When he starts that you need to growl at him and pull him back with the lead. My advice is that when you have company put him straight on a lead than if he goes to bit even if it is a playful bitting you still need to do this as it will get worse as he gets older. As for barking it is a natural thing but they do need to learn when it is allowed so again if he starts barking gowl at him. My Toby wasn't a barker until he got older and now Im really having to come down on him. So please start now and save yourself a lot of frustration.

Thats my 2 cents worth anyway!!!! :o

I do tell him no when he does go after our ankles,, but it is out of play that he is doing it.  He only does it when I have baggy jammie pants on and he's going after the fabric more so than my actual ankles.
Just a little update too on my leaving him in the crate.  It seems that my leaving him there more often has worked with him not peeing in it, though I still don't think he enjoys being there.  When we get home he pulls everything we put in it for him out.  Toys, blanket, pillow.. whatever it may be he needs to take it all out with him.  :)  I'm just happy I'm not coming home to pee anymore.

Hi Cash,
It sounds like you are doing fine. The thing is you know what is acceptable with him and it is quiet clear to me that you understand him and you know when he is crossing the boundaries. The main thing is that he is doing what you expect of him as you are the leader of the pack and he looks upon to you to teach him.
I don't know much about crating as I have never done it but it does sound like he loves the things you have put in the crate, so to my way of thinking he is bringing them out with him to play but as I said you know him I'm sure you will come to the right conclusion.

Thanks Ann-
He's a little bugger that's for sure.  And you're right it's easy to get caught up on how little and cute they are and wind up not being as hard on them with the training as you might be with a bigger dog.  I sometimes forget he's a dog at all.  :)
