You can boil your own chicken and maybe a little brown rice to feed her. Just make sure all the fat is washed off the chicken before you feed it to her. It's sad but vets and human doctors know very little about nutrition. Nutrition is not even taught in their medical schools. Vets depend on the dog food industry to supply them with foods just like they depend on the drug industry to supply them with medication and the information about them. Doctors and vets do not do research on these things they depend on these industries to do the research and supply the product. Unfortunately, both these industries are profit motivated and do not always have the best interest of the patient in mind. Dog food is made the way it is because the company has to make a product that will last for months at a time on a shelf. Meat will not last on a shelf so they have to cook what little meat they use at least 3 times and usually more than that. The nutrients are lost the enzymes are lost, then they add grain to substitute some nutrients and as a filler. Dog's bodies are not made to process grain. Then they add synthetic vitamins and various form of glucose to get the dog to want to eat it. That is why your dog does not want to eat that crap they gave you. It does not have the glucose and other crap that temps the dog to eat the stuff. Read the ingredient list. I'm sure it does not resemble anything a dog would eat on it's own.
I posted this on another thread but it could be helpful to you. There is a lot of good information about dog food on this site. Look at the tabs listed at the top of the page and click on them. The dog food timeline is really interesting. I know your busy now but when you get time maybe you can check it out.

Thanks for caring everyone! Ellie I looked up Wysong and that sounds like it would be good food for Angel. But it said that she needs a prescription from a vet and they won't give me one. When Angel was on a raw diet both vets she went to told me to get her off of it right away saying she could salmonila poisioning.  She ate it a little better this morning when I heat it up real hot. I have to put a little on my finger and feed her like that all day long. She gets sugar lows sometimes and I think she got one last night. I had to feed her a little bit of her regular dog food. She just gulped it down. This afternoon she did again and then I thought of giving her honey like when she was little. This helped. I'll keep her on this for a month until her next bloodwork but then I'm going to try to find a lowfat food if she has to stay on a restricted diet. She can't live on this forever. She already is losing weight.

Thanks for caring Ellie, Mai Tai and Michele. I don't think I am going to be on here for awhile. I hope your little ones have a wonderful life.

The Wysong food is not like a regular raw food. It is in kibble form. It's freeze dried. I don't think your vet has much knowledge about raw diets or he would never have said that. Raw is becoming more and more popular as more knowledge about dog nutrition is becoming public. Vets have no education in nutrition. It sounds like he wants you to have her on this diet but if she is having sugar lows you need to get her on something else. This is very dangerous.
Gracie is on Stella & Chewy's raw freeze dried dog food. It's the only food she will eat. She loves it and does very well on it. Has not been sick once. The only thing you have to be careful with is to wash your hands after touching the food. I don't even have to keep it cold. I know you trust your vet but you have to be aware that there is an awful lot that they don't know because they don't educate themselves about much of anything once they are out of school. Hope you get her on something else soon even if it is only chicken and brown rice.

Mandy, so sorry you are so worried about Angel.  I know you are busy, but if you get a chance, keep us posted once in a while.  Until then, prayers coming your way.
