Never worry about venting here.  We know how hard it can be.  I took care of my friend's two dogs over the summer, and though I loved them, it was so hard.  One of them peed in the house at least 3 or 4 times a day and pooped in the house twice a day.  They also chased my cats and taught my dogs to do the same.  I was sad to see them go though, because they were so sweet, but I was relieved at the same time.  Hope you last until Friday night.  Vent whenever you need to.

Thank you!  This lady is somewhat older than me and doesn't know too many people here so I befriended her.  She has another dog that one of her elderly friends keeps while she is gone.  I hope she understands why I can't do it again.

I'm sure this lady does need help of some sort but you have to tell her you cannot do this anymore. It's just ruining your home and upsetting the family. You did your best. Maybe there is some other way you can be helpful to her without her dog messing up your home.

By today my husband had also had enough.  He told me I could blame it on him for us not being able to keep her anymore.  We kept her a couple of months ago for 3 days and we didn't have any problems.  However, this time she is nearly full grown and not so "puppy like"...its just a bad situation.  Knock on wood that this time tomorrow she will be GONE!

Seriously, right??!!  Anyway, on her drive home yesterday she called and told me what time she would be here.  She asked me how things had gone and all I said was "we had a rough week".  No details, etc...I wasn't home when she came by because I had another obligation.  My husband told her we had a "bad week".  Next thing I know it is 10:30PM and I get a text that read:  I get paid Tuesday and I will bring you $50 for keeping Rox....sorry it was a problem.  If you know her you can tell the tone that she used.  If she asked me what happened I am going to tell her EVERYTHING!!!  I was trying to be polite and just let her know it was not a good week.

Raley, tell her you don't need the 50 (unless you do) because if she gives you money, she will only feel that you will be obligated to watch the dog again.  Just tell her everything, like you said, and say you won't be able to do it in the future.  She has some nerve if she is annoyed at you.  If my dogs peed in someone elses house I would be soooooooo apologetic and upset.  Let us know how it goes.

I am going to take the money but will never keep the dog again.  Ever.  Period.

Good, then you get the money, and you don't have to watch the dog again.  Keep your resolve.

$50.00 is nothing after what you put up with. She could never board a dog for a week for that much money. Yes, you should tell her exactly what you had to deal with all that time so she knows exactly why you cannot watch her dog again.
I am assuming the dog is young and it may be she is not consist in the dog's training. She needs to stay home with the poor thing and teach it how to behave.

The pup is about 9 months old.  The lady is big into animal rescue but doesn't spend quality time with her own dogs.  She runs an apartment building for low income elderly people.  She lives on site.  Her dogs have free run of the complex.  Its just a bad situation.  I will tell her why we won't dog sit for her again when she comes to see me Tuesday.

Just tell her you love her dog but it is too much for you to handle, be blunt.

I now what your going through as I have been there and done that. You have to be cruel to be kind to yourself and your family.

I know it is hard but you do have to learn to say no. The thing is you did try and you didn't know this dog was going to be a problem as you did have it before and it wasn't a problem but things have changed so you just have to saY NO next time. It will be hard but you need to think of your family. You big softy!!! :D

Thank you all for the support.  I will have no problem saying "no" next time.  Its kind of ironic that a couple of you commented on this thread today.  This lady came over during lunch today with the pup to bring me a Christmas present.  I met her in the driveway!!
