I just found this website and am a new Shorkie mom.  Dodger is three months old - he was born on Halloween.  I'll have to get a pic to this computer to download.  He's adorable.  He weighs just over 3 pounds and I'm wondering how big he will get.  His dad (Teacup Yorkie) is only 3 lb and mom (shih tzu) is only 5 pounds.  He's only three months old and already bigger than dad!

Hi Leslie,

Welcome to the site and congrats on your Shorkie.  If you check around the site you will see that the shorkies are all different sizes depending on their parents' size.  My vet says that they usually end up somewhere in between their parents' sizes though some may be slightly smaller or larger.  That does not help a lot does it?  My shorkie is 6 months old and 11 pounds right now.  He was 6 lbs at 13 weeks, so he has grown pretty quickly. His dad was 15 lbs and his mom was 5 lbs, so he has a wide range.  His siblings are both around 5 lbs now.  I imagine your puppy will get to be around 5 or so.  It is hard to tell.  It is better if you look at their rate of growth too.  Has he put on a lot rapidly or grown very little over time?  That will give you a clue as to how quickly he may grow before he stops growing around 10 to 12 months.  Sorry I can't be more particular.  Hope to talk to you again.  Good Luck
