I am going to look up everything about carseats and harneses and see which one I am going to get. Angel is crate trained. She stays in their at home if we can't take her along somewhere. I agree she needs to be in something but it too something like this to happen before I really realized it. I'm still sore but I'm doing alot better. Our Envoy was considered totalled by the insurance company.

I bought Angel a car seat where she can look out the window because it's high enough. She doesn't lke it right now she's whining and crying and acting like she hyperventilating. She'll eventually get used to it. I hope.

I'm sure it is going to take time for her to get used to it. Are you using a harness? It is safer and won't put pressure on her neck and throat if you have to put on the brakes or something else happens. Most dogs that have never been restrained in a car don't like the idea at first. I guess it's just like anything else we have to train them to do. You must be feeling better to be out and about. Do you think Angel remembers the accident?

Maybe she is afraid to be in the car now.  We took the carpet off our stairs a few weeks ago, and Mo slid down them.  He did not get hurt, but now he will not go down the stairs by himself.  They do remember things.

That's too bad. Years ago when our Shih Tzu was 7 years old we had hard wood steps that were quite steep. He was following one of my daughters upstairs and he slipped and tumbled down them. Of course his feet were slippery with all the fur on them and he was hurrying to keep up with her. We had to take him to the vet to have X Rays as he was limping quite badly after that. Nothing was broken but that is when we discovered he had hip dysplasia. I put some stick on carpeting on each step after that. The poor little guy. I felt so bad for him. He was such a good boy and just loved the kids.

Yes we are using a harness otherwise it would be to tight on her neck. She twists around alot but she isn't whining or crying anymore. At petsmart they have this harness that they said is very comfortable and it looks like it wouldn't hurt her. When she moves around in her other harness in the car it looks like it could hurt her. Mai Tai I think she is a little afraid yet because if I break a little too hard she gives me a scared look. I'm more scared of wrecking now too!

Also I'm sorry that happened to Mo. My husband read that they forget things after seven minutes. I don't believe that because its obvious they remember things that happened like Mo did and Angel.

I think what they mean is that if they pee on the floor and you punish them several minutes after the fact they are not going to understand what you mean. It's true dogs do not understand English. You can teach them lots of words but if your saying, "No, don't pee on the rug!" 10 minutes after the fact they are not going to understand. It is more effective if you catch them in the act and take them right to where they are supposed to go. Poor Mo couldn't help it. He had some drastic surgery.
Mandy: Check on the Puppia step in vest harness. It's what we have and it is really secure and won't touch the neck area at all. I really like it. Gracie is slick and can work her way out of a strap type harness. This particular Puppia secures with velcro and a clip type of thing. They have them on ebay usually and other pet supply stores.

I never reprimand Mo when I find pee in the bathroom, or on the floor.  He really cannot help it, and unless I catch him in the act, he won't understand anyway.  He remembers falling down the stairs because there were immediate consequences.  He went down the stairs and he fell, and he got scared, so now he associates the stairs with unpleasant things.  I am trying to find him a diaper that will fit him.  He is very small.  Don't know whether to go with the disposable ones or the ones you can wash over and over, though I think they need a pad put in them too.  We go to the vet again next week for x-rays to see if he has another stone because he is having symptoms again despite being on antibiotics for two weeks.  Hopefully, he just needs another course of antibiotics.

I'm going to look up the puppia vest harness. I got one at petsmart that I am just going to use in the car. It's just a little big but that was the smallest one they had. Mai Tai I'll be praying for Mo. He's been through so much already the poor little guy.
