You see most of the pics of Shorkies I have seen on here show pups with lots of thick fluffy fur. My Gracie has fine, straight, silky fur and not much of it at that. She still gets cold at night and wants to snuggle.

Oh, I love my little snuggle bug. She is snoozing under my left arm right now. Once in while if I move too much she will give a little squeak to let me know I am annoying her.

Her coloring is so beautiful, she looks like she could be a little dog model.... ;)  She probably takes more after the Yorkie if her hair is silky and thin.  My Maggie has Shih tzu fur and Max I think is going to have Yorkie fur because his is thinner and straight and silky.

She looks very much like my Mo, same color, same ears, and same silky hair.

I guess she does have the Yorkie fur and bone structure. Of course the breeder docked her poor little tail so she is different looking for sure. It's the funniest thing to see that tiny little stub of a tail waving a mile a minute. I'll be glad when the horrible fur cut I gave her grows out so she can get a decent grooming.

I love your Ava's fur. It is so full and fluffy not to mention the beautiful markings. My Shih Tzu had thick fluffy fur but your Ava seems to have a little wave to her fur. She is a beautiful glamor girl.

A "docked tail"?  Is that what they call it?  What do the breeders do? :o  I believe Chewy has one.. She's got just a stub of a tail.. mayb 3cm long.. I was always wondering about her tail when I see all these long curly ones on shories.

In the U.S. breeders still "dock" or cut off the tail of the Yorkie when they are 3 days old. Some have the vet do it but those who have been breeding for a while do it themselves. I guess there is some sort of instrument they do it with. They used to count a certain number of vertebra from the end of the spine out to know where to cut. In the Yorkie  standard it says they are supposed to have a medium sized tail. I wouldn't call Gracie's tail medium. I would call it tiny! I kind of wish they had left it alone because I always liked the curly Shih Tzu tail and the tail says so much about how a dog is feeling. I guess they have outlawed docking in England. When I was a child we had a Boxer and she had a docked tail and ears that had been cropped. I prefer the natural ears on Boxers and I see more breeders are not cropping their ears now.

Gracie is absolutely adorable!  Her little stub of a tail is too cute.. I I had NO idea about "docked" tails!  I always thought maybe Chewy wasn't the right breed mix!.. Chewy's tail from base to tip is just two inches.. I'm pulling at it all the time! Thanks  for the info!  I literally had no idea!

Heehee....love the cat in this picture Ellie.  Almost looks as if to say to Gracie...."get out of my face"....LOL  Cute!!  Our pups chase the poor cats around the house.  But then cats get them back later when they are in their playpen and can't get out, they saunter past them teasing them.  LOL
