Am I the only one?
« on: June 08, 2011, 07:07:17 PM »
I wish I could take Raley everywhere with me--literally!  Where I live is not pet friendly unless you consider walking your dog a perk (yes, I'm being sarcastic).  I have friends who live all across the U.S. and some of them take their furbaby to the store, restaurants, etc....and frankly I am JEALOUS!  I have a nurse friend who is currently working in Austin, Texas.  She owns a morkie and he goes everywhere she can possibly take him.  In fact, yesterday she took him to lunch with her and her waitress brought Watson his own bowl of ice water!!  I love showing off my furbaby but wish I had more opportunities!  Anyone else feel like I do????

Yes I do. I hate! leaving her at home. Petsmart is about it. On my way to my doctor we stopped at this outlet with alot of stores. One store said you can bring your dog in . We're pet friendly. I didn't know that. They should have a sign up pet friendly. My husband and I were taking turns staying out with her.

I wonder how pet friendly Pittsburgh is. I plan on taking my baby everywhere. I'm thinking about getting a traveling purse bag so that it won't be an issue.

I don't take Mo anywhere other than on long walks because he is so nervous around strangers.  Mai Tai is too big to go everywhere.

I have to correct myself. We took her on our trip. We take her along when we go places and one of us stays out with her. And I take her to the park alot. Also when I got my flowers this summer. The more I think about it I take her with me pretty well all the time. LOL I have to admit she knows what Arbys building looks like. She gets excited when she sees one. She likes the junior roast beef without the bread. She can't go to church I don't think that would be a good idea.LOL

I wish we could take Charlie more places too! My friend told me she takes her shorkie into the grocery store sometimes but with my luck I would be the one they decide to crack down on lol. I have taken him into some stores but just carried him, unless they say they're pet friendly. I was also thinking about getting a pet carrier/purse but I'm afraid he'd probably hate it and it would just be a waste in the end.

They sell doggy tote bags now. You can stick your dog in them and pretty much go any where with them as long as your dog is quiet. I'm getting one for Gracie now that it is warm enough to take her places. The bags have mesh on the ends so the dog can breath. Some allow the dog to pop it's head out the top. They come in various sizes and price ranges. If you want to look there is a site called petsalley.com that has quite a selection to get an idea. I have a couple on my wish list at Amazon.com. I have to get her a doggie car seat and seat belt, too so she can be safe in the car. My family tells me how she pouts when I leave so I think she will enjoy getting to go places with me.

Yes in Australia you are not allowed to have a dog any where near restaurants, shopping centres etc. Their are some holiday places you can stay that allow pets but not a lot. :-\

In the US it varies.  Some of the larger cities are more pet friendly.  Where I live pets are not allowed in any business.  We are lucky that our town has great sidewalks downtown and you can always see people walking their dogs.  However, that is IT.

A couple of weeks ago I did take Raley with me to one of my hubby's doctor's appointment.  Obviously I couldn't take him inside but the weather was very pleasant and we stayed outside.  Raley made friends with street vendors and strangers!  I forgot to take his little backpack (it was in the parking deck 3 blocks away) and he needed water.  I  bought bottled water and shared it with him on the sidewalk.  He was a hoot drinking out of a water bottle!!! :P

Vancouver is very pet friendly.  I take my dog around in her own tote called Outward Hound.  No one even knows she's in there, and she loves it... I carry her frontwise... like being a kangaroo.

 :D
I just experienced what it would be like taking my baby out on Saturday. We took him to the kids track meet which is an all day event and he did great. I bought a cute little doggie tote from petco. He hated the bag at first. After awhile when I'd take him out to run around he would try climbing back in it. It took a minute for the people around us to realize that we had a dog with us. I'm going to try taking him along with us where ever we go. Next stop walmart.
