New to Shorkie Talk - Chewy's mom
« on: June 01, 2011, 12:53:59 PM »
Hi Everyone.. I'm new to the board.  In March I became the proud mommy of a beautiful little female shorkie - she's now 5 3/4 lbs and is 6 months old.  She's orange, cream, and black.  We called her Chewy due to Chewbacca but let me tell you, those teeth will chew everything.. Is this common? biting? eating paper? tissues?  Oye!

Welcome aboard! That is totally normal. Angel is five months old and she loves grabbing the toilet paper and pulling it all out.

Mine loved to eat wipes.  It was really bad for a while.  Mai Tai once threw up three of them.  I tried so hard to keep them from him, but he was like a crack addict and could find them anywhere.  Thank God he outgrew it, but you have to watch them so closely because tehy can really hurt themselves.  Welcome to the board and keep posting.

Thank you everyone for the welcome wishes! So I accidently left open a shoeboxthat had brand new shoes and you know the paper they wrap the shoes in? I left it in the box on my bedroom floor...  My son came home from school and let  Chewy from her crate... There is now about a 100 pieces of shredded paper strewn across my bedroom and more in the dining room across the house!    Our joke is for Chewy's first birthday Nov 23, we're going to give her a roll of toilet paper as a present!

Yikes! Sounds like quite the trouble maker lol Charlie is pretty good about not chewing on things other than his toys, we tried to put a stop to that early on, but in the last few days he's been finding paper everywhere and trying to eat that. Yesterday I found that he had chewed half of an empty toilet paper roll (no clue how he even got to it!). He had actually ate about 1/4 of it and immediately threw it up, so I wasn't too worried about it but I'm keeping an eye out for any fallen paper, etc. now!

That's one of Angel's favorite things to do.We have a scale beside the toilet and she will jump on that and than she can reach the tiolet roll. I've cleaned her mess up plenty of times.

As long as Gracie has a bully stick around she won't chew things but as soon as I take the last three inches away from her she starts looking for things to chew. She will go looking for things to steal out of everyone's closet or off end tables, etc. I have decided to keep a supply of bully sticks around!

When I first gave Gracie a bully stick I had to take it away from her at night because she would chew it 24/7. She doesn't chew them as much now but I always have one ready for when she is in chewing mode.

Do you know of those bully sticks can go bad? I give them to Charlie a lot but the last  one I had got him he had chewed on quite a bit but one day I gave it to him in the house and after chewing on it he ended up throwing up..
