eekk!  I'm so excited I found this site/forum!  I've been looking online for something like this where I could talk to other shorkie owners.  It isn't exactly a well known mix of breeds like the cockapoo or maltipoo (but shorkies are so much better  ;) hehe)  Anyways, I just wanted to say how glad I am to have found you guys!

I'm glad to have you no board I hope you do find this helpful. It is hard to get people to join. I think shorkies are the cutest, My Toby is such as good dog. I love all animals, I beleive that an animal will give you back what ever you give them and more. :)

Thank you for this site, I love it!  My shorkie is a year old and her name is Christie.  She's black with a very little brown on her and she's a character.  It took a while to housebreak her but that was my fault. She'd sit at my feet and just look up at me when she had to go out.  I finally "got it."  She loves EVERYONE, especially small children and ALL animals.  Of course she thinks she's a big dog.  My husband and I have always had Labs before so this is our first experience with a small dog.  Any advice or help from this list would be wonderful.  I want to cut her fur but I'm not sure how.  Do you use a comb and then cut it like a barber does?  She will stand still for me and I've always taken her to a groomer before, but now I want to try and Petco doesn't have any openings until the end of August!!! Thanks.  Ladywrite

Hi welcome to shorkietalk it is great to see more people join. Unfortunately we don't have a groomer on board yet. So I think you are going to have to wing it. I'm in the process of getting my groomer to join.Finger crossed. ::)

Hi Ann!

What a great website.  I know when I first heard of shorkies there was just nothing on the web to answer questions about this fun new breed.   I love my little girl, and am having so much fun with her first litter!!

I really do think this is the best breed out there!

Thank you I hope it grows as I'm sure that there are a lot of cute shorkies out there and that I can encourage their owners to join and show off their cute shokies.

I hope you continue to come to the site and share your stories and ask your questions.
Please encourage others.

Hi everyone,
Ann invited me to join this great website which I think is a great site. Thanks again Ann,
Although I don't own a Shorkie ( I breed Australian Working Kelpies) I do think they are cuties.
I am a professional Dog Groomer and Dog Trainer ( as well as vet nursing) so I hope I can help all of you bond more with your little cute friends thru grooming and training advice.
Can't wait to be a part of the shorkie world

I think this site is the greatest thing. I had never heard of a Shorkie (actually the person I got her from hadn't either) until we both took a closer look at my baby's paperwork.

I got Rowan 3 days ago from a breeder of Shihtzu's. Apparently she was watching her daughter's female Yorkie when her oldest (and completely blind) male 'found' the Yorkie lol. Rowan went to live with another family before I got her but there were some issues with their household so she got dropped back off with her dad's owner. Thats where I got her. She is so precious. I feel alot like a new mom-barely slept, 1 shower in 3 days n felt bad for that one, and getting as much done as I can while she is napping. Rowan is almost 4 months old (exactly 3 months 3 weeks old today) but with all the going back n forth between houses she hasn't had the stability she needs so we are working very hard to get potty trained and more secure.

Luckily I have a couple of months off from school so I have the time needed to get a schedule put together for her.

I love my lil Rowan to pieces she is the cutest thing I have ever seen  ;D

I try to reply as much as possible but sometimes it's hard. With looking after grand kids running a business from home and also working for my sons building business 1 to 2 days a week, plus training Toby in the afternoon it's hard. I must admit though I do love getting on the site and reading the posts and having a laugh. I think the only thing that keeps me sain is Toby and this site.  :)
